GENERAL STUDY OF TECHNIQUES OF DEFORMATION MEASUREMENTS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

ETUDE GENERALE DES TECHNIQUES DE MESURES DES DEFORMATIONS EN GENIE CIVIL

THE RESEARCH INVOLVES THE STUDY OF COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE INSTRUMENTS FOR MEASURING DEFORMATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODIFIED VERSIONS OR NEW DESIGNS OF SUCH INSTRUMENTS TO SUIT PARTICULAR REQUIREMENTS. PRESENT ACTIVITY IS CONCERNED WITH LONG-TERM STRAIN GAUGE MEASUREMENTS ON CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURES AND WITH DEFLECTION MEASUREMENTS. THE 1976 PROGRAMME OF WORK INCLUDES: CONTINUED STUDY OF COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT - AUDIBLE INDICATORS, WELDABLE GAUGES; LONG TERM MEASUREMENTS WITH GAUGES BURIED IN THE CONCRETE; DEVELOPMENT OF A SECOND GENERATION OF LASER FLEXIGRAPHS.
