THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO DEVELOP TECHNIQUES TO ENSURE THE SATISFACTORY WATERPROOFING AND BEHAVIOUR UNDER TRAFFIC CONDITIONS OF THE WATERPROOFING COURSE AND WEARING COURSE IN NEW AND REPAIRED PAVEMENTS. IN 1979 IT IS ENVISAGED: - TO CONTINUE THE STUDY OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF SECTIONS BUILT IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS OR CONSTRUCTED WITH NEW MATERIALS; - TO CONTINUE INVESTIGATIONS ON LEVELLING AND WEARING COURSES WITH THICK SURFACINGS FOR METAL BRIDGES (NEW SURFACINGS AND REPAIR OF EXISTING SURFACINGS), AND OBSERVATION OF LEVELLING COURSES WITH GUSSASPHALT; - TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP TESTS FOR CHARACTERIZING MATERIALS (EMPHASIS WILL BE PLACED MAINLY ON ASPHALT AND PREFABRICATED SHEETS); - TO STUDY TECHNIQUES OF REPAIRING EXISTING OR DEFECTIVE WATERPROOFING COURSES WITH PREFORMED SURFACE DRESSINGS IN PARTICULAR; - TO DEFINE SPECIFICATIONS AND TEST PROCEDURES; - TO UPDATE THE FILE OF WATERPROOFING COURSES AND FURTHER ITS USE.
