DEEP BEAMS, III. STRENGTH AT SUPPORTS
THE LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF DEEP BEAMS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE IS GREATLY AFFECTED BY THE STRENGTH OF THE BEAM SUPPORTS. THE BEAM, OR WALL ACTING AS WEB, IS OFTEN CONNECTED TO A FLOOR SLAB. EXPERIMENTS ON THE EFFECT PRODUCED BY VARIATIONS IN THE THICKNESS OF THE FLANGE ON THE STRENGTH OF THE BEAM SUPPORTS ARE DESCRIBED. /RRL/
