ROAD SAFETY SITUATION 1976

BILAN 1976 DE LA SECURITE ROUTIERE

THIS ARTICLE REPORTS ON ROAD SAFETY DURING THE COURSE OF 1976 IN FRANCE. THE STATISTICS DEMONSTRATE A STABILIZATION IN THE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF FATALITIES (4.7%). THE PRINCIPAL SAFETY MEASURES TAKEN IN THE COURSE OF THIS YEAR WERE AS FOLLOWS: COMPULSORY WEARING OF CRASH HELMETS BY TWO WHEEL RIDERS, IMPROVEMENT IN THE SAFETY OF THE TRANSPORT OF CHILDREN, PRE-SIGNALLING OF VEHICLES. A TABLE SHOWS THE PATTERN OF EVOLUTION IN FATAL ACCIDENTS SINCE 1960.
