CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO CARRIAGEWAYS COMPOSED OF BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS IN THE FORM OF WAVES AND TRACKING GROOVES REQUIRE CLARIFICATION OF THE CAUSES, SO THAT COUNTER-MEASURES CAN BE WORKED OUT. THIS REPORT STUDIES THE EXTERNAL INFLUENCING FACTORS FOR THE INTERNAL STRESSES IN HIGHWAY STRUCTURES RESULTING FROM MAXIMUM SURFACE TEMPERATURE INCREASES, IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE TEMPERATURE RANGES AT VARIOUS DEPTHS OF LAYER AND TRAFFIC LOADING, RELATED TO OBLIQUE LOAD APPLICATION, RESULTING FROM SHEAR FORCES ON STARTING AND BRAKING LINKED WITH LARGE COMPRESSION FORCES USING AS AN EXAMPLE THE SKODA LORRY. THESE INITIAL PARAMETERS MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IN THE THEORETICAL EXAMINATION OF MATERIAL BEHAVIOUR OF BITUMEN BOUND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS. IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE PRACTICAL MATERIAL COEFFICIENTS, WHICH MUST BE CONSIDERED IN A RHEOLOGICALLY BASED CALCULATION MODEL, A SUITABLE LABORATORY TEST TECHNIQUE MUST BE DEVELOPED. THUS A BASIS FOR DESIGNING AND CONSTRUCTING DEFORMATION RESISTANT BITUMINOUS HIGHWAY PAVEMENTS CAN BE CREATED.
