THE STATE OF THE NEW DRAFT OF DIN 1995

STAND DER NEUBEARBEITUNG DER DIN 1995

THE GERMAN STANDARD DIN 1995 IS IN ITS PRESENT STATE A MIXTURE OF QUALITY SPECIFICATIONS AND A DESCRIPTION OF VARIOUS TESTING METHODS. SUCH A COMBINATION OF SPECIFICATIONS AND TESTING REGULATIONS UNDER A DIN NUMBER IS NO LONGER ADMISSIBLE ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLES OF THE GERMAN INSTITUTE FOR STANDARDIZATION. THIS SITUATION WILL BE CONSIDERED IN THE FUTURE, SO THAT THE QUALITY REQUIREMENTS OF VARIOUS BITUMINOUS BINDERS WILL BE SPECIFIED IN DIN 1995, WHILE THE ACTUAL INDIVIDUAL TEST TECHNIQUES WILL BE CONTAINED IN DIN NUMBERS 52000 TO 52050. THE REVISIONS OF THE EXISTING TEST METHODS WHICH HAVE BECOME NECESSARY AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW METHODS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AND WILL DEVELOP FURTHER IN THREE WORKING PARTIES "BITUMEN AND CUT BACK BITUMEN", "TAR" AND "BITUMEN EMULSIONS AND COLD BITUMEN". THUS, CONVENTIONAL TESTING METHODS WILL BE CONSIDERABLY REPLACED BY THESE NEWER METHODS, THE RESULTS OF WHICH CAN BE GIVEN IN PHYSICAL UNITS. A SERIES OF NEW DIN PUBLICATIONS FOR TESTING SPECIFICATIONS HAS ALREADY APPEARED. MOST OF THE REMAINDER CAN BE EXPECTED SHORTLY. POSSIBLE CHANGES IN THE QUALITY SPECIFICATIONS HAVE NOT HITHERTO BEEN DISCUSSED.
