SHEAR BEHAVIOUR OF PRESTRESSED REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS

COMPORTEMENT A L'EFFORT TRANCHANT DE POUTRES EN BETON ARME PRECONTRAINT

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BASIC LATTICE THEORY AND THE REAL SHEAR BEHAVIOUR OF A REINFORCED OR PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAM IS NOT FULLY EXPLAINED. A FIRST SERIES OF TESTS WAS CONDUCTED ON REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS WITH THE WEB REINFORCEMENT VARYING IN POSITION ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT DESIGNS. TESTS ARE NOW BEING CARRIED OUT ON DOUBLE-T BEAMS WITH A CONSTANT CROSS-SECTION VARYING IN DEGREE OF PRESTRESSING AND VARYING IN PERCENTAGE OF TRANSVERSE REINFORCEMENT. A SPECIAL STUDY IS BEING MADE OF CRACKING DUE TO SHEAR.
