WAYS OF DECREASING THE CONDUCTION OF BODY NOISE FROM THE ENGINE STRUCTURE TO NEIGHBOURING PARTS

UNTERSUCHUNGEN UEBER DIE MOEGLICHKEITEN ZUR VERMINDERUNG DER KOERPERSCHALL-LEITUNG VON DER MOTORSTRUKTUR IN BENACHBARTE TEILE

PREVIOUS RESEARCH ON THE REDUCTION OF NOISE FROM DIESEL ENGINES HAS BEEN CONCERNED EXCLUSIVELY WITH THE NOISE EMITTED BY THE SURFACES OF THE ENGINES. THIS WORK PROVIDED A NUMBER OF SOLUTIONS WHICH EFFECTED IMPROVEMENTS UP TO 20 DB. THE PRACTICAL INCORPORATION OF ENGINES WITH MARKEDLY REDUCED NOISE INTO VEHICLES HAS SHOWN THAT THE EXTENT OF NOISE REDUCTION ACHIEVED IS NOT FULLY EFFECTIVE OVER THE WHOLE SPECTRUM OF NOISE IF PARTS OF THE CAR WHICH ARE LINKED WITH THE ENGINE, SUCH AS FRAME AND AUXILIARY MACHINES, ARE THEMSELVES SOURCES OF NOISE BECAUSE OF CONDUCTION OF NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THE AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DRAW UP RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE OPTIMUM DESIGN OF THESE LINK MEMBERS.
