BY MEANS OF SIMPLE DIAGRAMS AND CHARACTERISTIC VALUES OF THE ROCK OBTAINED FROM DRILLED CORES AND MANUAL SAMPLES, THE DESIGN ENGINEER IS ABLE TO DETERMINE AND OPTIMISE THE SECURITY MEASURES TO BE BUILT INTO COMPRESSIVE ROCK IN LINE WITH EXPECTED DEFORMATIONS, THE CONTRACTING PARTY CAN OBTAIN AN ACCURATE PICTURE OF EXPECTED CONDITIONS, AND THE CONTRACTOR CAN ADAPT VERY QUICKLY TO THE CHANGING CONDITIONS IN THE ROCK AND INCORPORATE THE MOST ECONOMICAL SAFETY MEASURES. THE PROCEDURE IS TO BE WORKED OUT FOR GENERAL CONDITIONS AND NOMOGRAMS ARE TO BE DEVELOPED WHICH TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE EFFECT OF ANCHOR LENGTH AND DENSITY.
