DESPITE GREAT DIFFERENCES IN THE COSTS OF BUILDING AND MAINTAINING THE VARIOUS ANIMAL PROTECTION DEVICES, THE USE OF THIS EQUIPMENT IS NOT CONTROLLED BY UNIFORM REGULATIONS. THE OBJECT OF THE WORK IS TO DEFINE THE ECOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES OF EXISTING EQUIPMENT, AND EXPLAIN THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THESE FEATURES. THE PROGRAMME OF WORK COMPRISES: ESTABLISHMENT OF SECTIONS OF ROAD PROVIDED WITH ANIMAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT WITH REFERENCE TO THEIR ECOLOGICAL, BIOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES, AND SELECTION OF COMPARATIVE SECTIONS (WITH AND WITHOUT PROTECTION EQUIPMENT) ON THE BASIS OF COMMON ECOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES; DETERMINATION AND STUDY OF ACCIDENTS INVOLVING WILD ANIMALS AND CAUSED BY WILD ANIMALS ON THE SECTIONS SELECTED; DETERMINATION OF ECOLOGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS IMPORTANT FOR THE USE OF ANIMAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT; STUDY OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF WILD ANIMALS (MAINLY DEER, WILD BOAR AND HARE) WITH REFERENCE TO ANIMAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT AND ROAD TRAFFIC.
