A PHILOSOPHY OR REALITY?

EINE PHILOSOPHIE ODER REALITAET

A DISTINCTION IS MADE BETWEEN THE EFFECTS WHICH ARISE SUDDENLY AND ARE NOT OBSERVED IN TIME BY THE DRIVER (EXPLOSIVE DAMAGE) AND DAMAGE WHICH OCCURS GRADUALLY WHICH MAY BE SPOTTED BY THE DRIVER OR BY THE SERVICING PERSONNEL (LONG TERM DAMAGE). EXPLOSIVE DAMAGE CAN HAVE THE MOST SEVERE CONSEQUENCES FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY BECAUSE OF ITS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED NATURE. THE FOLLOWING ITEMS CAN SUFFER FROM DEFECTS DUE TO EXPLOSIVE DAMAGE: WHEEL AND TYRES, WHEEL STEERING COMPONENTS, BRAKES, AND SOMETIMES THE DRIVE SHAFT. POSSIBLE FORMS OF DAMAGE TO THESE COMPONENTS ARE DISCUSSED. IT IS ALSO REPORTED THAT THE DRAWING UP OF A CATALOGUE OF DAMAGE TO EXPLOSIVELY ENDANGERED COMPONENTS WOULD BE WORTHWHILE. A SECOND STEP SHOULD BE THE PRODUCTION OF GUIDELINES REGARDING THE EVALUATION OF LONGTERM DAMAGE AND HOW TO AVOID IT MOST EFFECTIVELY.
