CONCLUSION OF THE FEASIBILITY STUDY "DEMAND-ACTIVATED BUS SYSTEMS"

ABSCHLUSS DER DURCHFUEHRBARKEITSSTUDIE "BEDARFSGESTEUERTE BUSSYSTEME"

THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT RESEARCH PROGRAMME LAUNCHED BY THE FEDERAL GERMAN RESEARCH MINISTRY IN 1974 INVOLVING A FEASIBILITY STUDY INTO A DEMAND-ACTIVATED BUS SYSTEM WAS COMPLETED IN 1976. A REPORT IS PRESENTED ON THE AIMS AND SCOPE OF THIS STUDY, THE RESULTS OF THE TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY REVIEW, THE EFFECTIVENESS IN TRAFFIC AS WELL AS THE INVESTMENT AND OPERATING COSTS OF THIS NEW TRANSPORT SYSTEM. ALSO EXAMINED ARE THE FUTURE LINES OF DEVELOPMENT, PARTICULARLY THE FURTHER IMPROVEMENT OF THE ECONOMY IN COMPARISON TO PUBLIC TRANSPORT BUSES AND POSSIBLE TESTING.
