AIR POLLUTION ARISING FROM VEHICLE TRAFFIC IN URBAN AREAS

LUFTVERUNREINIGUNG DURCH DEN KRAFTFAHRZEUGVERKEHR IN STADTGEBIETEN

THIS REPORT COVERS THE EFFECT OF AIR POLLUTION ARISING FROM VEHICLES IN URBAN AREAS. THE HYDROCARBON COMBINATIONS CONTAINED IN THE EXHAUST GAS PRESENT AN UNKNOWN SPECTRUM AND ARE STILL INSUFFICIENTLY RESEARCHED AS REGARDS THEIR QUANTITY AND EFFECT. THE ANNUAL QUANTITIES OF EMISSION OF CO, HC AND LEAD IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY BEFORE AND AFTER THE EXHAUST GAS REGULATIONS ARE COMPARED. THE RESULTS OF MEASUREMENTS IN GERMAN CITIES AND CONURBATIONS ARE ILLUSTRATED. SUITABLE EXTENSION MODELS, WHICH WOULD MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE POLLUTION EXPOSURE OF STRONGLY THREATENED INNER CITY AREAS, FROM THE BASIS OF EMISSION DATA, ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE.
