PRINCIPLES FOR MECHANIZED ROAD MAINTENANCE

GRUNDLAGEN FUER MECHANISIERTE STRASSENERHALTUNG

PRINCIPLES ARE TO BE WORKED OUT FOR THE RATIONAL MAINTENANCE OR OPERATION OF FEDERAL GERMAN ROADS, TAKING ACCOUNT OF EASE OF ADMINISTRATION AND USE OF THE MOST UP-TO-DATE EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES. FACTORS BEING CONSIDERED ARE THE ORGANIZATION AND EQUIPMENT OF A ROAD UNIT, AND DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMUM SIZE OF NETWORK, NUMBERS OF PERSONNEL, VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT, THE FUNCTION OF SURVEILLANCE IN ROAD MAINTENANCE, AND THE TASKS OF INDIVIDUAL WORKING PARTIES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE PROVISION OF GOOD SERVICE. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ALSO TO BE MADE FOR THE CARRYING OUT OF THE SET TASKS. THE AIM IS TO ACHIEVE BETTER UTILIZATION OF EXISTING PERSONNEL, VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT AND MONEY AVAILABLE, TOGETHER WITH AN INCREASE IN ROAD SAFETY.
