THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MANUFACTURE OF CONCRETE SUCH AS TYPE OF AGGREGATE, SIEVE LINE, MAXIMUM PARTICLE SIZE, WATER-CEMENT RATIO, AIR VOIDS, DENSITY, SYNTHETIC HARDENING MATERIALS AND SURFACE TREATMENT ON THE ABRASION STRENGTH AND RESISTANCE TO DE-ICING SALT OF CONCRETE SURFACINGS IS TO BE DETERMINED, WITH THE AIM OF OPTIMIZING ALL CONCRETE COMPONENTS. THE EXISTING KNOWLEDGE OF ABRASION STRENGTH IN RELATION TO THE PETROGRAPHIC COMPOSITION OF THE AGGREGATE USED AND THE STRENGTH OF THE CEMENT PASTE IS TO BE CHECKED FOR AUSTRIAN CONDITIONS IN PART ON EXPERIMENTAL ROADS, AND THE VARIOUS ABRASION SIMULATORS ARE TO BE TESTED FOR RELIABILITY.
