USE OF HIGH STRENGTH REINFORCING STEEL IN BRIDGES
DESCRIBES THE EXPERIMENTAL CONTINUOUS CONCRETE GIRDER BRIDGE BUILT IN HILL COUNTY, TEX., IN WHICH HIGH STRENGTH REINFORCING STEEL WAS USED. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRIC STRAIN GAGES, INSTRUMENTATION, AND TEST PROCEDURES IS PRESENTED. FEATURES OF THE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND A COMPARISON OF THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH DESIGN WITH THE ELASTIC DESIGN ARE GIVEN. DEFLECTIONS AND CRACK FORMATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. /RRL/A/
