CONSTRUCTION AND FOLLOW-UP STUDY OF A PRECRUSHED SLAG-SAND PAVEMENT. THE PROVINS DEVIATION

REALISATION ET SUIVI D'UNE CHAUSSEE EN SABLE-LAITIER PREBROYE - DEVIATION DE PROVINS

SAND-SLAG MIXTURES ARE WIDELY USED IN SUB-BASES. THEIR USE FOR ROADBASES GIVES RISE TO A NUMBER OF SPECIFIC PROBLEMS. THIS ARTICLE GIVES THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN AN EXPERIMENTAL SECTION OF THE RN 19 (6000 TO 7000 VEHICLES PER DAY) THE SUBBASES AND BASECOURSES OF WHICH CONTAIN SLAG-SAND MIXTURES. THE SECTION WAS THE OBJECT OF AN EXPERIMENTAL PLAN SET UP TO STUDY THE FOLLOWING POINTS: BEHAVIOUR OF PRECRUSHED SAND-SLAG (INITIAL STABILITY, STRENGTH, FATIGUE TEST); BOND BETWEEN THE BASECOURSE AND THE WEARING COURSE; OVERALL BEHAVIOUR OF THE COMPLETED PAVEMENT AND FOLLOW-UP STUDY OF ITS EVOLUTION. THE SECTION BEHAVED SATISFACTORILY AS REGARDS INITIAL STABILITY AND FATIGUE BEHAVIOUR. AFTER TWO YEARS IN SERVICE THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE PAVEMENT IS SATISFACTORY.
