THE STUDY IS CONCERNED WITH 3 TYPES OF SAND (FINE EOLIAN SAND OF THE FONTAINEBLEAU TYPE; SILICEOUS-LIMESTONE ROUND SAND EXTRACTED FROM BALLAST-PITS; ROUND SAND WITHOUT FINES AND WITH REGULAR GRAINS) STABILIZED WITH BINDERS: GRANULATED SLAG (PRECRUSHED OR NOT AND WITH OR WITHOUT RECTIFYING AGENT). ALL TESTS DESCRIBED AGREE, AND IT WAS POSSIBLE TO CONCLUDE THAT FOR SAND STABILIZATION PRECRUSHED GRANULATED SLAG USED AS BINDER AND CRUSHED SLAG USED AS RECTIFYING AGENT (SAND 65 TO 80%, PRECRUSHED GRANULATED SLAG 10 TO 15%, CRUSHED SLAG 10 TO 20%) GIVE SATISFACTORY DENSITY, COMPRESSIVE AND TENSILE STRENGTH, STABILITY AND COMPACTIBILITY, AND RESISTANCE TO FATIGUE AND DEFORMATION. FORMULAE ARE PRESENTED, THAT SEEM TO BE THE MOST INTERESTING FROM A TECHNICAL POINT OF VIEW.
