TEMPERATURE CHANGES AND DURATION OF HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURES IN A CONCRETE PAVEMENT

A SUMMARY OF THE EXTREME HIGH TEMPERATURES AND THE EXTREME LOW TEMPERATURES AS RECORDED 1 INCH FROM THE TOP OF THE PAVEMENT AND 1 INCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PAVEMENT AND FROM THE SUBGRADE IS PRESENTED. CONSIDERABLE SIGNIFICANCE IS ATTACHED TO THE AMOUNT AND DURATION OF THE EXTREME TEMPERATURES RECORDED. THE NUMBER OF FREEZING AND THAWING CYCLES RECORDED WITHIN THE CONCRETE PAVEMENT ALSO GIVES SOME USEFUL INFORMATION. THE RESULTS OF AN ATTEMPT TO CORRELATE AIR PRESSURES WITH CONCRETE PAVEMENT TEMPERATURE ARE REPORTED. /AUTHOR/
