LES CONSEQUENCES FINANCIERES ET SOCIALES DES ACCIDENTS DE LA ROUTE, POSSIBILITES D'AMELIORATION

OVER THE LAST TWENTY YEARS INCREASE IN VEHICLE OWNERSHIP HAS CAUSED MANY PROBLEMS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF WHICH IS ROAD ACCIDENTS. MOST PEOPLE CONSIDER ACCIDENTS AS INEVITABLE HAPPENINGS. FOR THE SPECIALIST, ACCIDENTS ARE A LOSS OF EQUILIBRIUM BETWEEN TWO VARIABLES; A DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLE AND A TECHNICAL VARIABLE, IN THIS CASE THE LATTER BEING THE MOTOR VEHICLE. AN ATTEMPT IS MADE BY THE AUTHOR TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THE LATTER DEFINITION IS THE ONE TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. PART 1 IS A STATISTICAL STUDY OF THE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS OVER THE YEAR, AND THEIR VARIOUS CAUSES. PART 2 DEALS WITH THE CONSEQUENCE OF ACCIDENTS. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCURATELY MEASURE THE FINANCIAL CONSEQUENCES OF ROAD ACCIDENTS. PART 3 DESCRIBES A SERIES OF POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF: MAN, THE VEHICLE AND THE ROAD, AND REPRESSION AND PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS.
