BEHAVIOUR OF DIFFERENT BRAKING AND BLOCKING SYSTEMS FOR MOTORCYCLES

COMPORTEMENT DE FREINAGE ET DE BLOCAGE DES DIFFERENTS SYSTEMES MONTES SUR MOTOCYCLETTE

THE AUTHOR STUDIES THE BEHAVIOUR OF CONVENTIONAL BRAKING AND BLOCKING SYSTEMS ON MOTORCYCLES, E.G, THE INDEPENDENT BRAKING OF EACH WHEEL. IT IS SHOWN THAT, IN THIS CASE, THE BRAKING EFFICIENCY CAN REACH 100%, THE TYRES BEING DESIGNED TO HAVE PERFECT ADHESION. HOWEVER AN INEXPERIENCED RIDER CAN PREMATURELY BLOCK THE FRONT OR REAR WHEEL, WHICH RESULTS IN HIS FALLING OFF HIS VEHICLE. COUPLED BRAKING SYSTEMS ARE THEN PARTICULARLY ADVANTAGEOUS AND ARE STUDIED HERE. IT IS SHOWN THAT IT IS HOWEVER DIFFICULT TO FIND AN IDEAL DESIGN FOR COUPLED FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND PRESSURE CONTROLS SO THAT AN INEXPERIENCED RIDER CAN ALWAYS BRAKE WITHOUT DANGER.
