THE TRAINING OF ROAD MAINTENANCE SPECIALISTS

LA FORMATION DES SPECIALISTES D'ENTRETIEN ROUTIER

RESULTS OF STUDIES CONDUCTED BY THE BCEOM DURING THE LAST FEW YEARS SHOW THAT SATISFACTORY MAINTENANCE DEPENDS ON THE TRAINING OF THE PERSONNEL RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. THIS IS WHY MISSIONS FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE REORGANIZATION ARE SLOWLY BECOMING MISSIONS FOR THE TRAINING OF PERSONNEL. THE TRAINING PROGRAMME MUST BE BASED ON THE QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE NEEDS, AND THE TYPES OF TRAINING PROPOSED MUST BE DETERMINED FOR EACH CATEGORY OF PERSONNEL. DATA ARE GIVEN ON TRAINING METHODS ADAPTED TO MAINTENANCE SPECIALISTS GROUPED IN 3 CATEGORIES: ORGANIZERS AND STAFF DEALING WITH MODIFICATIONS, CONSTRUCTION EXECUTIVES, MANUAL LABOUR. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF SOME TEACHING TOOLS, IN PARTICULAR DOCUMENTS ESTABLISHED BY THE BCEOM, AND ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE NEED OF SETTING UP AN APPLICATION CENTRE ADAPTED TO THE NEEDS OF EACH COUNTRY WITH A VIEW TO ENSURING THE PERMANENT RECYCLING OF THE PERSONNEL AND THE UPDATING OF THE TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS USED.
