VEHICLE GUIDE POSTS MADE OF PLASTIC HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OVER THOSE MADE OF TIMBER, CONCRETE OR STEEL IN THAT THEY RECOVER THEIR SHAPE FOLLOWING IMPACT AND ARE ACCIDENT-PROOF. FROM AN ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH AT APPROXIMATELY +20 DEGREES CENTIGRADE, A CLEAR RELATION BETWEEN BENDING MOMENT AND WALL THICKNESS WAS ESTABLISHED BUT AT -15 DEGREES CENTIGRADE THIS WAS NOT SO. ALREADY WITHIN THE FIRST 2 TO 3 YEARS BRITTLENESS OF THE MATERIAL HAS TO BE ASSUMED. DUE TO LACK OF APPROPRIATE TESTING METHODS WHICH GIVE USEFUL RESULTS A DEFINITE VALUE FOR THE REQUIREMENTS COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED.
