ON THE BASIS OF THE GENERAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION WHICH GOVERNS THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF A PILE AND TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE LATERAL REACTION OF ELASTO-PLASTIC TYPE SOIL WITH A HYSTERESIS CYCLE, THE AUTHORS CALCULATE THE BENDING MOMENTS, SLIDING, ROTATIONS, NATURAL FREQUENCIES, ETC, OF PILES IN A HOMOGENEOUS OR STRATIFIED SOIL LYING ON ROCKY SUBSTRATA SUBJECTED TO SEISMIC VIBRATIONS OF THE HARMONIC TYPE. THE INFLUENCE OF STRESSES ON THE FOOT OF THE PILE, THE RELATIVE PERCENTAGES OF HARD OR SOFT STRATA AND THE PARTIAL PLASTIFICATION OF THE SOIL ARE STUDIED.
