FORCES AND MOVEMENTS IN A CIRCULAR SLURRY TRENCH WALL CAST WITH BENTONITE MUD

EMPUJES Y MOVIMIENTOS EN UNA PANTALLA CIRCULAR EXCAVADA CON LODOS BENTONITICOS

TO STUDY THE BEHAVIOUR OF A SLURRY TRENCH WALL CAST CONTINUOUSLY WITH THE AID OF BENTONITE AND THE GEOTECHNICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOIL, DURING THE COURSE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A METROPOLITAN NETWORK IN SEVILLE (SPAIN), A CIRCULAR SHAFT OF 25 M DIAMETER WAS CONSTRUCTED USING A CONTINUOUS MEMBRANE IN REINFORCED CONCRETE. WHILST THE EXCAVATION WAS TAKING PLACE, DIFFERENT MEASURING DEVICES WERE PLACED TO CHECK THE FORCES AND STRESSES IN THE WALL, AND INCLINOMETERS WERE INSTALLED IN THE SOIL ADJACENT TO THE CONTROL PANELS. THE PAPER REPORTS THE RESULTS OF THE MEASUREMENTS AND LISTS THE CONCLUSIONS WHICH WERE DRAWN FROM IT.
