THE SIGNIFICANT OPERATING DYNAMICS FOR WHEELED EARTH-MOVING MACHINERY ARE SHOWN. THE NECESSARY TRACTIVE FORCE OF THE POWER UNIT IS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND ENGINE SPEED, GEAR RATIOS AND EFFICIENCY OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE ADHESION FRICTIONAL FORCE IS DETERMINED BY THE TYRE CONTACT PROFILE, THE WEIGHT ON THE DRIVING WHEELS AND THE FRICTION COEFFICIENT WHICH RANGES BETWEEN 0.9 (DRY CONCRETE) AND 0.2 (DRY SAND) DEPENDING ON THE CARRIAGEWAY MATERIAL AND CONDITION. EACH ELEMENT RESISTING THE ROLLING MOVEMENT OF THE WHEELS IS DESCRIBED - ROLLING RESISTANCE, CLIMBING RESISTANCE, AIR RESISTANCE, CURVE RESISTANCE - WITH POSSIBLE WAYS OF MEASURING THESE. FURTHER, THE PARTICULAR FEATURES OF INCLINED SECTIONS OF A ROUTE AND THE FACTORS WHICH INFLUENCE THE JOURNEY TIME ON ROUTE SECTIONS ARE DESCRIBED. FINALLY IT IS POINTED OUT THAT ALL FACTORS WHICH INFLUENCE THE SYSTEM: DRIVER - VEHICLE - TERRAIN MUST BE DETERMINED, AS ONLY THEN IS A RELIABLE ASSESSMENT POSSIBLE OF THE VEHICLE, JOURNEY TIMES AND FUEL CONSUMPTION.
