THE MASTER PLANS FOR THE COORDINATION OF REGIONAL PLANNING, SET UP BY THE LAW ON LAND USE AND URBAN PLANNING PROMULGATED IN 1975, OUTLINE THE REQUIREMENTS OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE MAIN LINES OF REGIONAL PLANNING. THEY CONTAIN: (1) A CHART FOR THE GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF LAND USES; (2) LIST OF ZONES OF MILITARY INTEREST; (3) STANDARDS FOR THE PROTECTION OF ECOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL VALUES, AND NATURAL RESOURCES; (4) LIST OF BASIC NATIONAL AND REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURES; (5) STUDIES JUSTIFYING THE PREVIOUS 4. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE DEFINITION, IMPLEMENTATION AND ORGANIZATION OF THE PLANS, PUBLIC PARTICIPATION, FUNCTIONS OF THE GROUPS CONCERNED IN THE PLANS (REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION, WORKING GROUPS), AND OF THE 6 STAGES ENVISAGED IN THE ROYAL DECREE: (1) COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF BASIC DATA; (2) DEFINITION OF OBJECTIVES AND PROPOSAL OF OPTIONAL SOLUTIONS; (3) SETTING UP AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE LATTER; (4) PLAN SELECTION; (5) ADMINISTRATIVE STAGES; (6) APPROVAL BY THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS.
