OPTIMUM CONTROL OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES IN THE BITUMINOUS CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS

OPTIMALE STEUERUNG DER PRODUKTIONSPROZESSE IM BITUMINOESEN STRASSENBAU

A COMPUTER PROGRAM IS TO BE DEVELOPED TO OPTIMIZE THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS IN THE BITUMINOUS CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS. WITH THE AID OF MODEL CALCULATIONS THE MUTUAL RELATIONS BETWEEN STATIONARY MIXING PLANTS, HAULING PLANT AND FINISHERS ARE SHOWN. THE BASIC DATA GIVEN RELATE MAINLY TO THE CAPACITIES OF THE MIXING PLANT, STORAGE POSSIBILITIES IN MIXING SILOS AT THE MIXING PLANT, THE HAULAGE CAPACITY AND THE TURN ROUND TIMES OF THE VEHICLES AS WELL AS THE CAPACITY OF THE FINISHERS. FOR EXAMPLE IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE HAULAGE FUNCTION BE OPTIMIZED BY USING VEHICLES WHICH ARE NOT NEEDED FOR HAULING MIXING MATERIALS, FOR THE TRANSPORT OF ADDITIVES. WITH THE AID OF COMPUTER PRINTOUTS IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE A QUICK DECISION WHEN A BREAK DOWN IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS OCCURS.
