THE INFLUENCE OF STORAGE ON THE STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT AND THE ELASTIC MODULUS OF CONCRETE

WHERE THIN CONCRETE SAMPLES ARE NOT PROTECTED FROM DRYING OUT FOR AT LEAST THREE DAYS, LOSSES IN STRENGTH MUST BE RECKONED WITH. THE INCREASE IN THE ELASTIC MODULUS AFTER 28 DAYS IS ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER IN SAMPLES DETECTED FROM DRYING OUT WHEN STORED OUT IN AIR THAN WHERE THEY ARE STORED IN WATER. BY SUBJECTING SAMPLES WHICH WERE DRIED AT 105 DEG C TO VARIOUS TYPES OF STORAGE, AND DETERMINING THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH, CONCLUSIONS REGARDING THE DAMAGE ARISING FROM DRYING OUT ARE POSSIBLE.
