CONCEPTION OF EVALUATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH GUIDELINES OF ENVIRONMENTALLY DAMAGING TRAFFIC EFFECTS

THE ANNUAL COST OF SOUND MASKING IN THE NEXT 13 YEARS IS ESTIMATED AT 150 MILLION DM IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW MAIN ROADS, 140 MILLION DM FOR EXISTING MAIN ROADS, 180 MILLION DM FOR LOCAL ROADS AND 300 MILLION DM FOR MUNICIPAL ROADS. TRAFFIC NOISE MUST IN FUTURE BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT AS A PLANNING FACTOR IN ECONOMIC STUDIES (RAS-W). THE TARGET LEVEL IS 45 DB(A), AT THE OUTER BOUNDARY OF BUILDINGS AT NIGHT TIME. THE DATA ACQUISITION TECHNIQUE AND A SYSTEM FOR THE EVALUATION WITH THE AID OF POINTS IS DESCRIBED. AN EXAMPLE OF THE COST OF NOISE MASKING IS GIVEN.
