LEAD CONTAMINATION OF FOOD, AND FODDER THROUGH CAR EXHAUST FUMES

UNTERSUCHUNGEN ZUR BLEIKONTAMINATION VON NAHRUNGS- UND FUTTERMITTELPFLANZEN DURCH AUTOABGASE

THE LEAD CONTENT IN FOOD, FODDER AND SOIL SAMPLES WAS INVESTIGATED POLAROGRAPHICALLY IN RELATION TO DISTANCE FROM MAIN HIGHWAY 96. A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN LEAD CONCENTRATION CAN BE OBSERVED WITH INCREASING DISTANCE FROM THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY NEXT TO THE ROAD A MAXIMUM OF 20.6 MG LEAD PER KG WAS DETERMINED IN GRASS. IF BUILDING AND HARVESTING RECOMMENDATIONS ARE OBSERVED THERE IS AT PRESENT NO ACUTE DANGER TO HUMAN HEALTH FROM LEAD-CONTAMINATED FOOD.
