SOME RELATIONSHIPS OF THE AASHO ROAD TEST TO CONCRETE PAVEMENT DESIGN

PROGRESS IS REPORTED ON THE PERFORMANCE OF CONCRETE TEST SECTIONS AT THE AASHO ROAD TEST. DATA ARE PRESENTED ON CONSTRUCTED SERVICEABILITY OF DESIGN 1 SECTIONS, CONCRETE BEHAVIOR AS SHOWN BY END OF TEST SERVICEABILITY AND CRACKING . DATA AND ANALYSES ARE PRESENTED ON THE EXTENT AND SEVERITY OF SUBBASE PUMPING AT THE ROAD TEST AND THE RELATIONSHIPS OF SUBBASE PUMPING TO SERVICEABILITY AND PERFORMANCE. THE DATA ARE ON TRACE, MODERATE AND HEAVY SUBBASE PUMPING. THE FINAL CONCLUSION IS THAT PCA DESIGN PROCEDURE IS MORE DEPENDABLE THAN WAS PREVIOUSLY INDICATED.
