INFLUENCE OF TIRE DESIGN ON PAVEMENT DESIGN AND VEHICLE MOBILITY

A CLOSE INTERRELATIONSHIP EXISTS BETWEEN TIRE DESIGN, PAVEMENT DESIGN, VEHICLE MOBILITY, AND SOIL COMPACTION. WHILE THIS PAPER PRESENTS AN ESSENTIALLY THEORETICAL STUDY OF CERTAIN PROBLEMS IN PAVEMENT DESIGN, VEHICLE MOBILITY, AND SOIL COMPACTION, IT IS BASED UPON GENERALLY ACCEPTED PRINCIPLES OF SOIL MECHANICS, AND WITH RESPECT TO BITUMINOUS PAVEMENT DESIGN, AT LEAST, IT PROVIDES CONCLUSIONS THAT ARE IN AGREEMENT WITH THE OBSERVED FIELD PERFORMANCE OF BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
