KANSAS' EXPERIENCE WITH CONCRETE SAW FOR CUTTING CONTRACTION JOINTS IN CONCRETE PAVEMENT

THE HISTORY OF HOW THE CONCRETE SAW CAME TO BE USED IN KANSAS FOR CUTTING CONTRACTION JOINTS IN CONCRETE PAVEMENTS IS DESCRIBED. THE USE OF THE SAW ELIMINATED ALL OF THE SHORTCOMINGS OF THE HAND FORMED GROOVE SUCH AS SPALLING, ROUGH AND NOISY RIDING SURFACES, AND DELAYS IN PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION, AND DID NOT INCREASE CONSTRUCTION COSTS. /AUTHOR/
