DISCUSSION OF REPORT AND SUPPLEMENTARY STUDIES: EFFECT OF REINFORCEMENT IN CONCRETE ROADS IN DELAWARE - SUMMARY OF REPORT

BECAUSE OF FAVORABLE SOIL, TRAFFIC, OR CLIMATIC CONDITIONS CERTAIN DELAWARE HIGHWAYS HAVE DEVELOPED EXCEPTIONALLY FEW DEFECTS. MAINTENANCE COSTS ARE QUOTED PER MILE, PAVEMENT SLAB ONLY. DUE TO THE LOW MAINTENANCE COSTS THE USE OF STEEL IN CONCRETE ROADS DOES NOT SEEM ECONOMICALLY JUSTIFIED FOR AVERAGE, SOIL, TRAFFIC AND CLIMATIC CONDITIONS EXISTING IN DELAWARE.
