NOTES ON THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS' CBR DESIGN PROCEDURE

THIS PAPER BEGINS WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF A DESIGN METHOD AND ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAIN THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS' ADOPTION AND USE OF THE CBR DESIGN PROCEDURES. BACKGROUND HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THESE PROCEDURES IS INCLUDED AND AN IDEA OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE SUPPORTING RESEARCH PROGRAM IS CONVEYED. DETAILS AS TO THE PRESENT CAPABILITIES OF THE CBR DESIGN METHOD ARE GIVEN AND ALTERNATE DESIGN PROCEDURES ARE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED.
