ROADSIDE PROBLEMS ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM: LEGAL ASPECTS

ROADSIDE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM MUST TAKE ACCOUNT OF AT LEAST SEVERAL OF THE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS SYSTEM AND OTHER HIGHWAYS, VIZ., CONTROL OF ACCESS, ADVANCE ACQUISITION, RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION, ROADSIDE PROTECTION, SIZE AND WEIGHT LIMITATIONS, TOLL ROADS AND APPROACHES, PREVAILING WAGE RATES, AND HEARINGS. THESE ASPECTS ARE LISTED IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE TO ROADSIDE DEVELOPMENT. A DISCUSSION OF EACH IS GIVEN, THE DEGREE OF TREATMENT DEPENDING ON IMPORTANCE OF THE FACTOR.
