THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER'S POINT OF VIEW

THE CONCERN OF THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER IN ROADSIDE DEVELOPMENT IS DISCUSSED. HIGHWAY PLANNINGS ARE DISCUSSED IN RELATIONSHIP TO TRAFFIC OPERATIONS. THE PROPER CONTROL OF ROADSIDE BUSINESS TO ENSURE SAFETY IS NEEDED, BUT SUCH CONTROL DOES NOT IMPLY PROHIBITION OF SUCH BUSINESS. SOME STUDIES SHOW THAT CERTAIN KINDS OF ROADSIDE DEVELOPMENT CREATE TRAFFIC HAZARDS, HOWEVER, MORE STUDY IS NEEDED TO PROVIDE BOTH SAFE AND EFFICIENT TRAFFIC PERFORMANCE IN RELATION TO ROADSIDE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTS.
