RATIONAL MODEL DESCRIBING SLOPE EROSION

AN INVESTIGATION WAS MADE BY APPLYING SIMULATED RAINFALL TO A SELECTED SOIL MATERIAL, COMPACTED TO PREDETERMINED UNIT WEIGHTS, TESTED AT PREDETERMINED SLOPES, AND COLLECTING THE RESULTING RUNOFF AND ERODED SOIL. FROM THE RESULTS OF THESE TESTS, AS WELL AS THE RESULTS OF PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TESTS, AN ANALYSIS WAS MADE OF THE EFFECT OF THE RAINFALL INTENSITY AND UNIT WEIGHT OF THE SPECIMENS ON THE VOLUME OF RUNOFF WATER THAT THE SOIL LOST. THE HYPOTHESIS QUALITATIVELY DESCRIBES THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS. /AUTHOR/
