PROGRESS REPORT ON CULVERT INVESTIGATION

THIS INVESTIGATION IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONDUCTING A FACT-FINDING SURVEY OF SMALL STRUCTURES TO DETERMINE METHODS OF ARRIVING AT THE ECONOMIC VALUES OF VARIOUS TYPES OF SUCH STRUCTURES IN HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION. THIS FIRST REPORT IS PRINCIPALLY A RESUME OF THE INFORMATION SECURED IN A PRELIMINARY SURVEY OF SMALL DRAINAGE STRUCTURES IN 14 STATES. THIS SURVEY WAS MADE TO OBTAIN DATA RELATIVE TO THE NATURE AND VARIETY OF SERVICE CONDITIONS IMPOSED UPON HIGHWAY CULVERTS, AND TO THE TYPICAL BEHAVIOR OF THE CULVERTS IN VARIOUS CONDITIONS.
