REPORT ON GUARD FENCE RESEARCH
THE PENNSYLVANIA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TESTED SEVERAL TYPES OF GUARD FENCE BY RUNNING A FULLY LOADED FIVE TON TRUCK AND AN AVERAGE WEIGHTED AUTOMOBILE INTO THEM AT VARIOUS ANGLES AND SPEEDS. THE REPORT COVERS THE EXPERIMENTS ON THE STANDARD TWO CABLE GUARD USED IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE PICTURES SHOW THE RESULTS OF THE VARIOUS IMPACTS AND INDICATE THE WEAK POINTS. THE DESIGN ADOPTED AS THE RESULT OF THE TESTS AND DIRECTIONS FOR PROPER INSTALLATION ARE GIVEN.
