EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF TORSIONAL STRESSES IN BOX GIRDERS /IN GERMAN/

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE WALL THICKNESS OF A BOX GIRDER ON ITS TORSIONAL RIGIDITY AND ON TORSIONAL SHEAR STRESSES WAS CARRIED OUT USING PLASTER MODELS. OTHER TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT TO ESTABLISH THE EFFECT OF THE REINFORCEMENT IN PRESTRESSED GIRDERS SUBJECTED TO TORSION, FOR VARIOUS POSITIONS OF THE NON- PRESTRESSED REINFORCING BARS. AN EXPERIMENTAL STRESS ANALYSIS WAS MADE ON A THREE-DIMENSIONAL PLASTER MODEL OF A CURVED BRIDGE. AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE PAPER IS DEVOTED TO A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE, OF THE LOADING SYSTEM, AND OF THE AUTOMATION OF MEASUREMENTS AND OF DATA EVALUATION. IN THE TESTS ON CONCRETE MODELS OF BOX GIRDERS, THE MEASURING PROCESSES WERE REMOTE CONTROLLED FROM A CENTRAL DATA-LOGGING UNIT IN THE TESTING LABORATORY. FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF STRESSES IN THE SHEAR REINFORCEMENT A NEW INDUCTIVE EXTENSOMETER ON POINTS WAS USED. /TRRL/A/
