ANCILLARY SHIPBOARD SERVICES
The ancillary services currently considered by ship designers are surveyed, including automatic control, auxiliary power, ballasting devices, stabilizers, safety devices, amenities, and many others. General methods of value engineering are presented as an approach to deciding which ancillary services to include in a particular ship design. Future prospects for ancillary services are predicted considering ships as part of integrated transportation systems.
