CATHODIC PROTECTION OF CRUDE OIL AND PRODUCT CARRIERS

The advantages and limitations of cathodic anticorrosion protection for the permanent ballast-, clean-cargo/ballast-, and cargo-tanks are explained, with emphasis on the problems of mammoth tankers. Complete paint, complete anodic, and combined paint and anodic protection systems are compared and the circumstances calling for each type of system are given.
