CALCULATION OF DRAINAGE PIPES AND DITCHES RECEIVING A CONTINUOUS LATERAL FLOW OF WATER /IN FRENCH/

NOMOGRAPHS ARE PESENTED FOR THE RAPID DETERMINATION OF THE MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE LENGTH OF STANDARD DRAINAGE PIPES OR DITCHES OF GIVEN DIMENSIONS, LAID ALONG A GIVEN GRADIENT, THE INTENSITY OF THE LATERAL FLOW OF WATER HAVING BEEN DEDUCED FROM HYDROLOGICAL DATA. THE BASIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION, ON WHICH THE CALCULATIONS ARE BASED, IS RECALLED; THE EFFECT OF THE LATERAL ADDITION OF WATER, ASSUMED TO BE OF CONSTANT INTENSITY OVER THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE STRUCTURE, IS INTRODUCED AFTERWARDS. EXAMPLES OF CALCULATION OF LOSS OF HEAD BY MEANS OF FORMULAE ARE GIVEN. EASY TO USE NOMOGRAPHS SHOW RESULTS OF COMPUTER CALCULATIONS. /TRRL/
