TESTING TENSION-PILES NEAR THE HEINENOORD TUNNEL
NEAR THE HEINENOORD TUNNEL 8 TENSION-PILES WERE TESTED. THE TOP LAYER OF ABOUT 9 M. THICKNESS CONSISTS OF CLAY AND PEAT; UNDERNEATH THIS CLAY THERE IS SAND TO A GREAT DEPTH. THE CAST IN SITE CONCRETE PILES HAVE A LENGTH OF 20 M. AND THE POINTS WERE FLAT, TRUNCATED OR POINTED. THE PILES WERE LOADED BY A PULLING FORCE. THE USED PILE-SYSTEM DEVELOPS A VERY HIGH-SKIN FRICTION. TWO PILES WERE SUBMITTED TO A GREAT NUMBER OF LOADING CHANGES AND TO A HIGH STATIC LOADING DURING A LONG TIME. THE RESULTS OF THE LOAD TESTS ARE DISCUSSED IN COMPARISON WITH THE RESULTS OF DEEP SOUNDINGS WITH FRICTION SLEEVE. /AUTHOR/
