CREEP AND SHRINKAGE EFFECTS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS

THE VARIATION WITH TIME OF THE STRESSES AND STRAINS IN A RECTANGULAR CONCRETE FLEXURAL MEMBER CONTAINING BOTH TENSILE AND COMPRESSIVE REINFORCEMENT AND SUBJECTED TO A SUSTAINED MOMENT IS ANALYZED. THE MOMENT IS SUFFICIENTLY LARGE TO CAUSE TENSILE CRACKING OF THE CONCRETE. THE RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS ARE USED TO INVESTIGATE LONG TIME DEFLECTIONS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS. /RRL/AUTHOR/
