HEAVY VEHICLES CAUSE OVERLOADING OF HIGHWAY BRIDGES, AND RENDER THE DEFINITION OF APPROPRIATE CRITERIA FOR DESIGN LIVE LOADING DIFFICULT. DISCUSSED IN THIS REPORT ARE OVERLOAD FRACTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TERMS WHICH PROVIDE A LOGICAL FRAMEWORK FOR INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEMS PERTAINING TO OVERLOADING AND THE PROVISION OF LOGICAL DESIGN CRITERIA.
