WIND RESISTANT DESIGN OF A CABLE-STAYED GIRDER BRIDGE

WIND EFFECT (AS EVALUATED IN WIND TUNNEL EXPERIMENTS) RATHER THAN WIND LOAD IS ADVOCATED FOR WIND RESISTANT BRIDGE DESIGN AND INSPECTION FOR STRUCTURAL SAFETY. CALCULATED VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY COINCIDED CLOSELY WITH MEASURED FREQUENCY FOR A COMPLETED CABLE-STAYED GIRDER BRIDGE, USING VIBRATIONAL LOADING EQUIPMENT TO INDUCE FLEXURAL AND TORSIONAL VIBRATION.
