WINTER CONCRETING: SPECIFICATION AND QUALITY CONTROL

THERE ARE THREE INTERRELATED PROBLEMS THAT MUST BE OVERCOME WHEN CONCRETING IS TO BE CONTINUED IN COLD CONDITIONS. THESE ARE THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO ENSURE THE SETTING AND HARDENING OF THE CONCRETE, THE NEED FOR A SUITABLE WORKING ENVIRONMENT, AND THE NECESSITY FOR ECONOMICAL WORKING. THESE MATTERS ARE DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF THE PREPARATION OF A SUITABLE SPECIFICATION AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF QUALITY CONTROL. A BASIS FOR APPROPRIATE MODEL SPECIFICATION CLAUSES IS ALSO GIVEN. /RRL/A/
